This experience begins in Otavalo with a short transfer to Cuicocha Lagoon, an impressive lake located inside the crater of the Cotacachi volcano. From the viewpoint, we will start a walk along part of the trail that surrounds the crater, enjoying beautiful views of the lake and the Andean landscape.
The walk continues toward the community of Morochos, where a community-based project with Andean alpacas takes place. There, visitors will enjoy a walk accompanied by alpacas, a peaceful experience that allows them to get close to these emblematic animals of the Andes.
At the end of the visit, a local snack prepared by the community will be shared before the return.
07:00 – Tour begins with pick-up from your hotel in Otavalo.
07:30 – Arrival at Cuicocha Lagoon. Hike along the Andean trail towards the community alpaca project, enjoying the scenic views of the crater and surrounding landscapes.
12:30 – 13:30 – Arrival at the Morochos community and traditional lunch prepared by the community.
14:00 – 15:00 – Alpaca experience and introduction to the community project.
15:00 – 16:00 – Transfer back to Otavalo. Arrival and end of the tour.
