The tour begins with a departure from Otavalo to Peguche Waterfall, one of the most iconic natural and spiritual sites for the Kichwa communities of the region. Located within a protected Andean forest, this waterfall is considered a sacred site traditionally used for purification rituals and cultural celebrations, especially during the Inti Raymi festival. During the visit, participants will enjoy a gentle walk along trails surrounded by native vegetation, while the guide explains the connection between nature, the Andean worldview, and the cultural importance of this place for local communities.
The tour then continues to Cuicocha Lagoon, located within Cotacachi-Cayapas National Park. This impressive volcanic lake was formed in the crater of an ancient volcano and contains small vegetated islands. Here, participants will enjoy an interpretative walk along a section of the crater trail, offering spectacular panoramic views of the lake, the surrounding Andean landscape, and the characteristic biodiversity of this ecosystem.
