Piñán, a hidden gem in the Ecuadorian Andes, is the perfect destination for those who want to disconnect from the modern world and reconnect with nature in its purest form. There are two ways to discover Piñán. The first option is a scenic 5-hour drive from your accommodation in Otavalo to Piñán Lagoon. Once there, you can choose between a 40-minute horseback ride or an approximately 2-hour hike along beautiful Andean trails to reach the stunning lagoon.
The second option is to stay at La Rana Canto in Cahuasquí and embark on an approximately 8-hour trek to Yanacocha Lagoon, where you will spend the night camping beside its crystal-clear waters. At sunrise, you will continue your ascent to the majestic Yanahurco de Piñán, one of the region’s most spectacular natural viewpoints, before beginning your return journey.
